These rugby shorts are inspired by an antique embroidered panel, circa 1880s. What we now call “pin the tail on the donkey” dates back to at least 1889. Other versions of the game would be printed on fabric, but this home embroidery version doesn’t feature a tail of course. This silhouette is reminiscent of traditional rugby shorts worn throughout Canada by way of England.
